Sydney, Australia
Pictures taken on the 28th February 1997 and 4th April 1998

Aboard the Vampire Warship, Darling Harbour

Opera House & Harbour Bridge on the background

Travelling to Sydney was not a hassle at all as it was just a train away from Wollongong. So when we needed a break from our studies and all those greenery, we hop on the train and shop in the city! These were some of the pictures taken when my friends and I decided to spend the day in Sydney together. Picture on the left shows my 3 good friends and I at the cockpit (which was prohibited for photography) on the Vampire Warship at Darling Harbour. The other picture was taken when we were on a Harbour Cruise, with the famous Opera House and the Harbour Bridge in the background. I just noticed that the 4 of us took the same positions in the pictures which were taken more than a year apart.

Blue Mountains in Katoomba, Sydney
7th September 1997

The Three SistersLocated less than two hour's drive from Sydney is the Blue Mountains. Katoomba (Aboriginal word meaning 'shiny, tumbling water') is the largest town in the Blue Mountains and is home to the famous rock, the Three Sisters. To reach the Three Sisters, I had to do about an hour's worth of "bush-walking" along the Blue Mountain's steep foothills.

The Aboriginal legend has it that they were three beautiful young women who had fallen in love with three men from an Aboriginal tribe from the foothills. Tribal lore prohibited the union, and a battle ensued. A witchdoctor turned the women to stone so they wouldn’t be harmed, but he was killed and no one could undo the spell.

To return to the valley, I chose to ride on the scenic railway down the steepest railway at the end of the trip.
